Are you ready? On Saturday May 25th 2019, Elgin Park Secondary is hosting it’s second annual car show.
This car show is going to bring many benefits for the school. Last year we saw 50 unique cars and had 500 spectators. This year we hope to double it and see over 100 cars on display in our school parking lot, and welcome a thousand spectators.
The car show is a family friendly all ages event that is open to everyone in the community. We encourage people to swing by and enjoy our show that includes many collector cars, vendors, concession, 50/50 draws, car show t-shirt sales and more. The event is a fundraiser for the school and all proceeds go to benefit the school shops and school technology.
The funds raised through the car show will support the Tech Ed department, allowing the department to purchase tools and technology used for student projects. Funds will also go towards supporting the Automotive Club. The goal of the club is to encourage high school completion, responsible living and character development through students’ involvement in motorsports competition. Through club activities students are taught that auto racing can be done in a safe and responsible manner. Students in the club will represent Elgin Park Secondary at Mission Raceway during BC Secondary School Motorsport Association events. Please visit http://highschooldragracing.ca/ for more information on the BCSSMA.
By volunteering to help with the show, it teaches our students the value of contributing to, and being part of a community and the importance of giving back. Their volunteer time at the car show offers them increased opportunities through the school that enrich their academic experience. You will find students helping out on the day of the show at the concession, the gates, on the grounds and during setup/clean up.
